Caribbean cruises – we check them out here
Just imagine it; a pina colada, a luxury pool, the highest quality food and six different islands. If this sounds appealing then a Caribbean cruise could be just the ticket. Leaving from Southampton and sailing to the Caribbean via Vigo then back via Madeira, these cruises take in 6 of the Caribbean islands giving you a chance to hop off at port and take in the sights, buy souvenirs and soak up some local culture. If you would prefer to see even more of the Caribbean, a lot of the cruise ships spend the winter months based out there. You can fly out to one of the islands and pick up the ship before settling in for a trip round up to ten ports. If you choose to fly out to the Caribbean then pick up the ship you will need to allow for the extra costs. Most cruise companies include the flight cost in the package but it will be more expensive. At the moment, the best bargains on P&O cruises in the Caribbean are booking for Spring 2012 with prices starting at £1,129 per person including flights for thirteen nights on the Oriana, costing from £2,954 for thirty four nights taking in twelve ports in eight countries and including flights. Of course once on board, all meals and most drinks are included in the price along with the majority of entertainment making this holiday great value for money. Holiday tour companies also often have great deals on cruises – try Thomson, Cruise Direct or Virgin Holidays. Then all you need to do is pack a posh frock, a bikini and some flip flops and reserve your sun lounger!
