Holland is more than tea and space cake in an Amsterdam Café. There are the wonderful lowlands in the south of the country near Goes, the beaches along the north-west coast and of course, Holland’s second city – Rotterdam, which has, for many years become the cultural and underground capital of Holland.
Getting There
Nottingham, Glasgow, London Gatwick and Heathrow, Edinburgh, Leeds and Liverpool are all flying direct to Amsterdam. Flights can be found for under £50 return, with Bmibaby.com
To get to Rotterdam you have less choice, although if Luton airport is within your range, they will fly to Rotterdam and back for around £60
Holland’s third airport is Eindhoven and is reachable from London Stanstead for under £40 return – unbeatable. Or from Bristol airport with Ryanair within the same price range
Amsterdam Schipol Airport is probably one of the easiest airports to get in and out of. A smooth metro will run you right in the heart of the city in about 15/10 minutes and drop you in Dam Square –from there, I’m sure you know what you’re doing.
Rotterdam airport is just as accessible with the RET bus lines 33, 41, 50 and also line B12 early mornings and during the night which will bring you into the city centre. There are also several Airport Shuttle Bus services that will bring you into the city.
