Flights into Cairo, the Land of the Pharaohs
Cairo Airport is located just 15 kilometres from the centre of the capital. It is one of the busiest airports in Africa and provides a busy hub to Africa and the Middle East. Cairo is now widely accessible from a great selection of both European destinations and further afield. British Airways, BMI, and Egypt Air are the main carriers flying from the UK, but a large number of travel operators also have flights into Cairo. Flights can be expensive, so keep an eye out for internet deals and consider package holidays which often benefit from lower prices. If you’re travelling onwards, there are a great many options for exploring Africa. Going into Cairo itself, it goes without saying that you can’t miss the Pyramids of Giza and the Sphinx. The Egyptian Museum at Midan Tahrir hosts the world's finest collection of Egyptian artefacts. For the best view in the city be sure to visit Cairo Tower on Gezira Island which hosts a fantastic view of the city of Cairo and if you’re lucky you can see the Giza Pyramids on the horizon. Cairo is a busy tourist city so the usual precautions should be taken in relation to pickpockets and overly helpful guides.
