Whether it’s the Waldorf Astoria, The chic Boutique or ever popular self-catering option there’s many ways to enjoy the city that never sleeps – assuming of course you will be getting some sleep. Check out Travelodge.
I get over to New York at least twice a year and the last few times I’ve gone for the self-catering option. Otherwise I’d have to check myself in as excess baggage for the extra weight with all the eating I do while there.
As much as I love New York dining, and I do, I find a hotel with a kitchenette the best thing for a coffee, bagel and a read of the New York Times for breakfast.
And the best hotels both myself and my friends have found for such affordable luxury are The Excelsior Hotel just off Central Park or the Affinia in Midtown Manhattan.
However for some budget quirky options with real character, I’m going to check out the new Loft Hostel, Brooklyn and then do a few nights at the Harlem Flophouse that my friends who stayed there recently tell me is a real NY experience not to be missed.
The Big Apple, The City that Never Sleeps, Empire City… whatever nickname you prefer, New York is one of those travel destinations that should be on everyone’s ‘Must-Do’ list! And you must also make sure that you select a hotel that suits your needs and wants, to ensure that your New York holiday is a positively memorable one! Check out Travelodge.
The Chocolat Hotel and Hostel is a great option if you are watching your pounds. There are shared and private rooms to choose from, depending on your budget. It is well positioned in the neighborhood of Manhattan, and is only one block west of Broadway. It is also quite close to Central Park. For a standard room, booked for November, it is 51.20GBP per night. Instead, a dorm room is 23.16GBPper room.
If you’d prefer to go a bit more up-market then consider the Wyndham Garden Hotel. It has a fabulous location right in the famously trendy Chelsea neighborhood, which is near West Village, Midtown and Union Square. It is walking distance from Times Square, the Broadway Theater District and the Empire State Building. No need for a car or public transport! A king room goes for around 180GBP per night.
If you truly want to splash out on a luxury New York hotel then you must treat yourself to the Waldorf Towers. There is a private entrance on Park Avenue and you also receive personalized concierge services and world-class amenities, such as exclusive individual treatment rooms at the Guerlain Spa, twice-daily maid service, access to the Astoria Lounge and luxurious Penhaligons bath amenities. It is located on the swanky Park Avenue and is walking distance from the luxury shopping district on Fifth Avenue. A double room, breakfast included is 377.30GBP per night.
New York, New York! So good they named it twice. Yes it’s a cliché but really, this is one of the most amazing cities in the world. With something for everyone, from parks to shops to dining and nightlife, this really is a city that never sleeps. Check out Travelodge.
Of course, when you are visiting New York, you will want to – sleep that is, and you will need a bed to sleep in. We love the look of the Hotel Grace. Situated right in Times Square, this is a no frills, high fashion pad with all the mod cons and stylish touches that you would expect from a chic boutique hotel in one of the busiest, hippest locations in the world.
The wood panelling and modern take on a cubic design means that the 136 rooms have a sense of the “Chalet” about them and although not enormous in terms of square footage, each room has a kingsize, incredibly comfortable bed. There are four penthouse suites with great views over Manhattan, and twelve “A deluxe” suites.
Room rates are from US$175 to US$525 per day and suites cost from $295. These prices include Continental breakfast but not taxes which are 14.75 per cent plus US$3.50 per day. We love the Hotel Grace. We love the style, the Jacuzzi and the fact that it allows pets in the rooms for a charge of US$100. Check out this hotel website to make a booking and find out more.
